University of Southern California McMorrow Residential College

Check-In on Monday, July 8th from 2pm - 6pm
Staff will be present to assist you at the McMorrow Residential College Customer Service Center (CSC). Upon check-in, you will receive a “HOUSING” card to access your assigned space. Any participant who locks themself out of their room can visit the CSC for help 24 hours for assistance.

Check-Out on Thursday, July 18th from 2:30pm - 5pm
All personal items must be out of your room when you check-out. Please return “HOUSING” access card issued at check-in. A replacement fee will be assessed for each “HOUSING” guest card (at least $25) not returned upon check-out. 

All rooms are provided with a pillow and blanket per person. Linen service is also provided which includes your linen packet (2 bath towels, facecloth, top and bottom bed sheets, pillow case) stacked and placed upon the bed. You will be charged for any linen missing after check out. Each room also comes with a fully functioning kitchen with disposable cups, silverware, and plates as well as basic pots and pans for use. 

This complex also has laundry rooms with washers/dryers operated with credit cards or debit cards with Visa/MC logo only (detergent is not provided). Laundry machines are located on each floor. 

Telephones and mail service are NOT included.

Participant apartments will look similar to the image above. Each participant will have their own bedroom.



Three (3) meals will be provided to Essentials participants throughout the seminar including: 

  • Opening Reception & Dinner on Monday, June 16th.

  • Pizza on the Patio – Stories from the field with Bruce Coppock and Core Faculty on Sunday, July 22nd.

  • Closing Luncheon at a location to be announced on Tuesday, July 26th.

Coffee and tea will also be provided in the seminar room each morning and snacks will be made available by program staff throughout the day. 

All other meals are pay-your-own way.

Parking for Commuters

Parking for commuting participants will be located the McCarthy Parking Structure & McCarthy Way Entrance (see G5 on map) and is $12/day, pay-on-site. 

Seminar Locations

Hollywood Bowl

Participants will be picked up outside the main entrance of Thornton on West 34th Street, directly after the last seminar session of the day at 6pm. Please come to sessions that day prepared with whatever you may want to bring with you to the concert. You will be dropped off in front of your residence hall at the end of the evening.

Dress is business casual for the duration of the seminar. Please note that photography will be taken throughout the 10 days and may be used on social media and/or future promotional materials. 


Walking Directions from McMorrow

  • Take a left out of the front door and walk toward W Jefferson Blvd.

  • Cross W Jefferson and continue to walk straight until the next street (W 34th Street).

  • Turn right on W 34th Street.

  • Walk until you reach the Albert S. Raubenheimer Music Faculty Memorial Building, take a right and walk around to the other side of the building.

  • Follow the path until you see Booth Memorial Hall (BMH), we will be in Ramo Recital Hall in BMH; look for the double doors with Essentials signs attached. (Note this is NOT the same as Virgina Ramo Hall which is a separate building)



All Wi-Fi is open and free to use for the duration of your time on campus. The SSN is USC Guest Wireless.

In an effort to become paperless, we ask that all participants should bring a laptop, tablet, or other e-device to access seminar materials. You may want to bring an extension cord for your chargers just in case! We will not print presentations or other materials for you. 

In an effort to help you organize your notes in a meaningful way, you may want to use a note-taking software to help you maintain structure and order of your notes. We recommend using a program like Evernote, which you can download here for a free trial.
